Call for Workplace Stewards
Colleagues,
In the upcoming days, schools will be electing Workplace Stewards and Alternates for the 2026–2027 school year.
Next year will be a significant one for our Union. With bargaining on the horizon, we know there will be challenges ahead, and we will need strong teams in every school to help keep members informed, engaged, and connected. Central Bargaining is commencing and we need Workplace Stewards established in each building at the start of the school year to help strengthen our communication and support.
So, when the call for nominations comes and everyone suddenly becomes fascinated by their coffee mug, consider putting your name forward.
You don't need to have all the answers. You simply need to care about your colleagues and be willing to be part of a team working to strengthen our Local and support public education.
And you won't be doing it alone. Our Workplace Stewards and Alternates are supported every step of the way by fellow Stewards, the Executive, and our Released Officers. We will provide the training, resources, and support you need to be successful.
The year ahead will require all of us pulling in the same direction. We hope you'll consider joining the team and helping us prepare for what lies ahead. As such, we are hoping that our current Workplace Stewards will hold a meeting to elect next year’s Workplace Steward and Alternate(s). It is important that every school have a Workplace Steward and Alternate(s) team, so please consider putting your name forward and we look forward to working with you!
Once your school has elected a Workplace Steward (one main Steward for contact purposes) and Alternate(s), please have those elected use the following link to register as the 2026-2027 representatives no later than Friday, September 11, 2026:
