Saturday, October 24 - Massive Education Rally
Colleagues,
There are moments when our collective voice matters most, and this is one of them.
The future of public education is shaped not only at bargaining tables or in the Legislature, but also by the willingness of education workers and their communities to make clear, publicly and collectively, what they are prepared to stand for. Governments pay attention when public concern becomes visible, sustained and impossible to dismiss. On October 24, we have an opportunity to make that concern visible across Ontario.
On Saturday, October 24, education unions and allies will gather at central locations across the province for a province-wide Massive Education Rally. This is an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of public education, not simply through what we say, but through the number of people willing to stand together and be counted.
London has been selected as one of the major rally points, and education workers and supporters will be travelling from across the region and beyond to join us at Harris Park. We want thousands of people standing together. Imagine educators, education workers, families, friends, neighbours and community members standing together and sending a clear message about the importance of properly funded, properly supported public education.
That only happens if people show up, and we need you there. Come for an hour or stay for the entire rally. Bring your family, invite your friends and colleagues, wear red, make a sign, bring something that makes some noise, and help us fill Harris Park.
There will be many opportunities in the months ahead to stand together for public education, but this is where we begin. A strong turnout on October 24 will show the government, our communities and one another that education workers are organized, engaged and prepared to stand together.
Please save the date: Saturday, October 24, from 12:30–2:30 p.m. at Harris Park, London.
We need to show up, stand together and make ourselves seen and heard. On October 24, help us fill Harris Park and send a message that cannot be overlooked; our public education system is worth standing up for.
More information will be coming soon.
In solidarity,
Your Released Team
