Building Thinking Classrooms

Location:

ETFO Thames Valley Teacher Local
2911 Bateman Trail, London

Recommended for: K-8

Inspired by Peter Liljedahl’s research, educators will be introduced to the core principles of Toolkit 1 and the foundational moves that gets students genuinely thinking. Participants will explore the big ideas behind BTC - why it matters, how it disrupts passive learning, and how it helps students move beyond mimicking procedures toward authentic problem solving. Through discussion, modelling, and hands‑on experiences, teachers will see how intentional structures such as visibly random groups, vertical non‑permanent surfaces, and rich tasks create classrooms where thinking becomes the norm rather than the exception. This session aims to spark curiosity, build confidence, and empower educators to begin shifting their practice toward deeper, more meaningful student thinking.
