Training Details:
- Date: Choose one of the three dates: November 4, 5, or 6, 2025 (limited space available in each session.
- Time: Registration 8:30 a.m., Training 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Attendees:
- The Workplace Steward or Alternate from each workplace and Executive Members.
- Please register on-line (select ‘Workplace Stewards’ Training’) by 12:00 noon, Thursday, October 23, 2025.
- For cancellation, please notify ETFO Thames Valley Teacher Local by Friday, October 31, 2025.
- Training Objective: To strengthen Workplace Stewards’ confidence, clarity, and communication skills so they can effectively support members and represent the Local.
- Desired Outcome: Workplace Stewards will leave feeling informed, connected, and ready to lead with confidence and practical strategies they can use right away.

- What are the key responsibilities of a Workplace Steward?
Beyond the obvious ‘answering questions and keeping the peace,’ what does your role really look like day-to-day? Let’s break down the must-dos versus the ‘nice-to-dos.’ - How can I communicate effectively in challenging situations?
How do you get your point across without accidentally starting a staffroom debate or a full-blown email war? Tips, tricks, and maybe a few laughable examples included. - What strategies help resolve workplace issues before they escalate?
From “I have a small concern” to “this could get messy fast,” how do you step in, stay calm, and keep everyone sane? - How do I support members while maintaining healthy boundaries?
Helping is part of the job – but let’s talk about saying “no”, avoiding burnout, and keeping your coffee (and sanity) intact.
